A woeful soundtrack to go along with a woeful film. Despite this it does have a few delightful tunes, including the remix of Spears’ ‘Overprotected’, Mathew Sweet’s ‘Girlfriend’(which is Need Somebody To Love redone) and Bowling For Soup’s ‘Greatest Day’.
The same can’t be said for the Karaoke version of 'I Love Rock N Roll’. It’s bad enough that Britney covered Jett, but this version leaves out words, and just plain horrible.
This CD is a rarity of sorts. Released only as an EP, only 5000 were produced and it was never commercially released. Given away free during the film’s first week release, I’m not sure whether it was hoped that this would entice more to see the film, or helped keep fans away.
Having seen the film, it probably would have been more apt to throw in N’Sync’s 'Bye, Bye, Bye', Shania Twain’s 'Man, I Feel Like A Woman' and Spears’ 'Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman'since they were more prominent through the film. In honesty, I don’t remember most the tracks on this album even being played.
Sadly, the soundtrack’s been together with as much effort as the film. Give it a miss.
