The Spill Canvas-The Concept EP
Record Label:
Year: 2003
Track Listing:
01. Aim Snap Fall
02. All Hail The Heartbreaker
03. Drunken Ballerina Waltz
04. Your Evil Soul
05. So Much
The Spill Canvas originally started over as a side project for Vocalist Nick Thomas, before he realised he was onto a good thing with this band, and decided to turn it into a fulltime gig.
It’s a good thing that he did, because this EP shows that this is no flash in the pan band, but one that has solid substance, great beats, and well-written lyrics.
There’s something intoxicating about Thomas’ vocals, and he draws you in with the poppy ‘Aim Snap Fall’ and keeps you sucked in right to the very end with ‘So Much’.
The songs on this album are emotionally based, which are transformed from teen angst into brilliantly written songs.
There’s something familiar about this band, and many may not be too surprised to hear that Thomas’ influences include Dashboard Confessional, Maroon 5, and Copeland.
Definitely one worth recommended, especially if you enjoy acoustic-style bands. (Listen to ‘Drunken Ballerina Waltz’)
I can’t wait to hear more from this band. Highly enjoyable and recommended.
I give this 4/5
