After Cher’s sensational comeback with Believe, her next album Living Proof wasn't quite as magical, there's some disappointing songs on it, and to put it bluntly there are some really dull songs on this album.
“The Music’s no good without you” has boring lyrics. While the song is darker then any of the songs on Believe, it uses the same decoder, and just does nothing for me.
Luckily the whole album isn’t like that song otherwise it would be a bomb. There are some fantastic songs on it like “Alive again”, which reminds me of 'Believe' and does show that she did attempt to do wonderful things with this album.
The beat is catchy, no decoder is used and it’s nice to actually hear her voice. I think one thing that is disappointing with her music these days is that she does use a decoder a lot. Cher’s voice by itself is much better, and stronger. This is a song about power, and learning to live again and it’s a must listen to.
Another song I really enjoyed was a song for the lonely, which has strong lyrics and touches a note inside since it is about 9/11, and again it is sheer magic. Really strong beats, and Cher reaches some really tough and long notes, showing that for her age she has an amazing voice.
“Different kind of love” is the new “Believe” on this album. Using the same decoder that she used on “Believe”, I don’t think it works as well, although it does have some very catchy lyrics. This song seems to be dedicated to her fans over the years, and is probably as dancy as Cher can get.
“Rain, rain” is one of her softer songs, and didn’t really do anything for me. It’s probably the closest to not being a dance song, and comes across more soulful.
There’s no point to really go through all the songs on this album, but it is surface to say that like her last album not only is there a dance feel to the albums but yet again another Latin feel. “Body to body, heart to heart” is an example of it with its fantastic beat and the use of the Spanish guitar gives it a real Latin salsa mood.
Overall I’d give this album 3/5
