If You See Her is the fifth album for country’s greatest duo, Brooks and Dunn. Released in 1998, the duo scored five chart singles from it that include ‘If You See Him’, ‘How Long Gone’, ‘Husbands and Wives’, ‘I Can’t Get Over You’ and 'South of Santa Fe’.
The counterpart to Reba McEntire’s 'If You See Him’, this shows a different side to Brooks and Dunn – a more emotional side mixed in with a whole heap of energy.
The title track, ‘If You See Him/If You see Her’ sees the duo team up with Country Diva, Reba McEntire, and what a teaming it is. One of the many stellar tracks on this album, even after 10 years it is still as fresh and entertaining as it was at release.
One of the pleasures of this album is that while Ronnie Dunn mainly sings, this album also sees Kix Brooks contribute two lead vocal tracks that includes ‘South of Santa Fe’.
Their take on Roger Miller’s ‘Husband and Wives’ is a pleasurable one, as Dunn makes it his own, while Brooks shows his rockabilly side on ‘Way Gone’.
One of the enjoyable things about Brooks and Dunn is their southern style rock combined with a twist of Hillbilly and folk. The duo work well together and with Dunn’s vocals and Brook’s crunching guitar style, it is an album not worth missing.
I give it 3/5
